We have been having a lot of conversations, as we’re sure you have as well. COVID-19 is the main topic of the moment, here and around the globe. As restaurant operators, our industry is already feeling the effects. We wanted to take this opportunity to communicate directly with you, our valued guests, to let you know what we’ve been discussing and the steps we’re taking to protect our guests, team members and community.
First, WE ARE OPEN and welcoming guests. All our restaurants – Palace Café, Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse, Bourbon House, Tableau and Acorn are currently open and operating with their normal business hours. We are staying vigilant monitoring the evolving Coronavirus situation, and are in regular contact with health agencies for information and guidance. We have implemented preventative measures in line with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For example, we have added additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the restaurant, increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection, and have continued sharing information on the best hygiene practices and illness prevention with our team members. Also, any and all team members who are not feeling well are required to stay home and we’re implementing an emergency sick leave policy to assist employees that may need to stay home due to illness. We’re even working on configurations at our restaurants to ensure tables are a minimum of six feet apart.
Secondly, although we’re being hyper-vigilant now, we’ve always been committed to the safety and well-being of our community. Even prior to COVID-19 we have had safety protocols in place including: all managers and chefs are ServSafe certified; regular training sessions with all food handlers about food safety and sanitation; quarterly third-party audits by a certified safety and sanitation company, Steritech; easy access to handwashing facilities and hand sanitizers; frequent sanitation procedures for kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms and other facilities.
Why are we telling you all of this? Because we need you to still dine out…our team needs you to still dine out…our hospitality community needs you to still dine out. We are taking this situation very seriously and we’re not operating with a ‘business as usual’ mindset. We’re taking all the steps recommended by the CDC and more to keep our guests safe and give them a special experience—a bright spot in their day, which many of us could use right now.
We are also aware that there are guests who will prefer to limit their social contact, and we are currently rolling out to-go and delivery service. If you’re craving the house filet or andouille crusted fish you’ll be able to order and enjoy at home. If your company chooses to enjoy an in-office dining experience, we’ll be able to deliver pans of pasta St. Charles or gallons of gumbo and so much more.
All of this to give more opportunities to our staff in this uncertain time and give you a little taste of normalcy. After all, food is more than sustenance, it’s our lifeblood in Louisiana. Good food isn’t the magical cure, but it provides something we need—a bit of emotional nourishment to us all.
